How to be a Better Wedding Guest!

Here are some great tips on how to be an ideal wedding guest!

1. Plus One: One of the most important rules wedding guests need to remember is not to assume you are allowed a plus one to every wedding your invited too. If the invite doesn't say "and guest" or the bride/groom haven't told you your significant other is invited, they are not. Normally a plus one should not be expected unless you have been with your significant other for a long time, are engaged/married or living together. Weddings are expensive and usually priced per person. Even a couple extra people can cost the couple hundreds.

2. Wedding Attire: Number one rule, don't wear white unless you are specifically told too. This includes all shades of white (ivory, champagne, off-white, blush). Make sure you dress appropriately for the season. Sundress in Spring, bring a shawl or coat for a Fall/Winter wedding. If the invite says black tie, it means black tie and an evening gown. If you are unsure of the appropriate attire, do not hesitate to ask!

3. RSVP: This is a huge detail to helps dictate the majority of the wedding. You should respond immediately to any formal invitation whether its yes or no. Couples need to give vendors (caterers, rental companies, bakeries etc..) head counts. If you're not sure whether you will be able to attend, tell the couple you will let them know within two months of the wedding. The biggest guest faux pas is to show up to a wedding without RSVPing.

4. Wedding Gifts: Wedding gifts don't have to be expensive. The couple invited you to their wedding because they wanted to share the day with you, not because they expected some lavish gift. Many couples register at different stores or create Honey Funds (where you can fund different adventures and things on their Honeymoon). Personalized gifts are always a hit and DIY gifts can be fun and inexpensive to put together! No matter what, the couple will appreciate the love and thought you put into it!

Weddings are meant to be a time for fun, laughter and lots and lots of love! Make sure your always the best guest you can be!
